Visual Blooper
The initial idea for my visual blooper image came to me as I sat down to work on my project. I thought it would be interesting to add current technology to an old presidential photo. I scavenged the internet for a presidential photograph with enough room on their desk for me to add a few items, which surprisingly was more difficult than I initially thought. I then decided to add a MacBook and an iPhone to the desk. I also added a few color modifications and filters to try to match the quality of the photo.
The final image was not as impactful as I originally planned, so I also added a very obvious blooper (chicken) hoping that the viewer would look deeper into the photo and find the other additions to the photograph. The filetypes used were both .png and .jpeg.

Advertising Project
I chose to create a spoof ad for McDonald's as my project. A few months ago I saw a video from a travel blogger who visited a McDonald's in Caracas, Venezuela and had a pretty horrible experience. The experience itself was specific to the location, Venezuela is currently going through one of the worst economic crisis in the world, so the company has not been able to keep up their quality control. McDonald's is also known for being extremely affordable but Venezuela's record breaking inflation has made McDonald's one of the most expensive chain restaurants in the country. McDonald's itself is known for always delivering a consistent product no matter where in the world the customer might be. I have personally had their food in multiple countries and locations and their product has always been consistent.
I thought the concept of a company hiring a travel blogger to document their honest experience at their restaurant locations would be interesting, so I chose to create an "Honest ad" and change up their slogan. Given McDonald's recently shaky reputation due to the quality of their food and how unhealthy it is for the human body, the oportunity to make this a spoof just seemed right. The movie "SUPERSIZE ME 2" was also recently released, adding a bit more negative press and pressure on the company to deliver a higher quality product. Although the footage I used was specific to one location, I was able to easily crop the video and make it seem like the quality and pricing was a worldwide company issue. I also made sure to not fully slander the company since there were a couple compliments thrown out at the end of the spoof. McDonald's really does have the best fries. No doubt about that.
